On Saturday, April 30th 2005, the red carpet will be rolled out, the glitterati will be out in force and all your rock-star fantasies of see-and-be-seen will come true. If you had to turn down your invitations to the Oscars and/or the Grammy's this year, due to your conflicting Ithaca schedule, now is the time to experience the real thing.

The SAMMYs is an annual awards ceremony which recognizes outstanding leaders at the Johnson School. It is an event to appreciate and thank all the clubs and individuals who, through their contributions, passion and dedication to the community, have helped establish the collaborative learning environment in which we are all involved. Leadership is fundamental to the Johnson School experience. Throughout an MBA student's time here, numerous opportunities exist to showcase and develop one's leadership talents. Many Johnson School students seize these opportunities to enhance their own abilities, while at the same time contributing to the success of the school. From the leadership demanded when running a club, to the creativity and dedication demonstrated in exceeding expectations for career and academic support, clubs and their members contribute significantly to the community. Each year students, through their clubs or on their own, design, coordinate and implement a range of events and activities that benefit the Johnson School. As a part of its strategic Five-Year Plan, the Johnson School is committed to producing and nurturing "leaders as catalysts who create, transform and sustain successful organizations." Every year, The SAMMYs recognizes and celebrates these students, who will make a difference in the business world of tomorrow.

The SAMMYs is named after one of the Johnson School's major supporters - Sam Johnson of SC Johnson - and it tries to uphold all the qualities of this unique and successful individual. The goal this year is to increase the visibility of corporate involvement. Representatives from our current sponsors (others are still pending), PriceWaterhouseCoopers, Liberty Mutual and Southern & Western, will have the chance to see first hand what makes the Johnson School such a culmination of visionary ideas and applied innovation. With such exposure and support, we hope to celebrate all forms of leadership that have been exhibited at the Johnson School by both students and staff.
