-For those of us who are not familiar with rugby, could you give us a general idea?
Rugby is a game that combines the physical aspects of football with the constant flow of a soccer match. Similar to football, points are scored by advancing the ball across the opponent's goal line.
-What made you go out for the team?
Many of us joined the squad to enjoy the camaraderie of being a part of a team. For most of us, this is the last time in our lives that we will get to be involved in an organized team sport.
-What are the prospects for the upcoming Duke tournament?
We have two major matches coming up this spring. On Saturday, March 31st, we hosted a match in Ithaca with NYU. In April, we will be traveling to Duke for a major tournament with approximately 25 international teams.
-Who are the better graduate club teams in the country?
Cornell can actually hold its own with most of the club teams in country. We will be one of the contending teams at the Duke tournament.
-Who are the up and coming 1st years on the team?
Mike Jaffre, Andrew Chang, Mike Slowik, Jimmy Cook, Matt Thayer and David Leonard have been extremely dedicated to supporting the team this year.
-What 2nd yrs are you going to miss the most?
Colm O'Mara, Marcus Lee, Tyler Nevius, and Brendan Bosch are good players and have really helped all of the first years learn the game this year.
-Are there any 1st years who you recommend come out and play?
We welcome anyone to come out and join the team. Almost all of us have never played before, so inexperience shouldn't hold anyone back from coming out to have a good time.
-And who would win, 1st yrs vs. 2nd yrs?
It's hard to say, we'll have to see next year when the second years come back for the alumni match!
